How to Get Med Spa Clients
Updated July 2026. A channel-by-channel playbook, not a list of generic marketing ideas.
Start with the math, not the tactics
Before picking channels, know your numbers. The average med spa location does roughly $1.8-2 million in annual revenue and spends 8-15% of that on marketing, meaning a typical clinic has a $150,000-300,000 annual acquisition budget to work with, spread across paid ads, content, referrals and events. Most owners spend it reactively instead of against a target cost-per-consultation.
1. Fix the leaks before adding traffic
Sending more leads into a broken intake process is the single most common mistake we see. Before spending on ads:
- Confirm every inquiry channel (phone, Instagram DM, website form, chat) reaches a human or bot within minutes, not hours
- Audit your no-show rate. Use our no-show calculator to see what it costs you annually
- Check that your booking flow works on mobile in under 60 seconds
2. Referral programs, structured correctly
Referrals convert at a higher rate than any paid channel because trust is pre-built. The programs that actually produce volume share three traits: the reward is meaningful (a real treatment credit, not a discount code nobody remembers), the ask happens at the moment of highest satisfaction (right after a good result, not on a generic email blast), and the front desk is trained to ask verbally, not just rely on a form.
3. Google Business Profile and local SEO
For most med spas, Google Business Profile drives more consultation requests than paid social. Keep it current: accurate categories, weekly photos, prompt review responses, and Q&A seeded with real patient questions. See our SEO and GEO service for the full local + AI search approach.
4. Paid ads: Meta and Google
Meta ads work best for awareness-stage offers (educational content, before/after where compliant, event promotion). Google Ads work best for bottom-funnel intent ("botox near me", "[treatment] cost [city]"). A blended budget typically outperforms either channel alone. Track cost-per-consultation-booked, not cost-per-click, or you will optimize for the wrong number.
5. The follow-up sequence most clinics skip
Industry data suggests it takes 5-7 touches to convert a warm consultation lead who did not book on the first call. Most med spas send one follow-up text and stop. A structured sequence (call, text, email, value content, final offer) recovers a meaningful share of leads that would otherwise be written off as dead.
6. Content that builds the injector's personal brand
In aesthetics, patients often choose the injector before the clinic. Content built around the provider (technique explanations, real consultation moments, Q&A) tends to outperform generic clinic branding. Balance this with protecting the clinic's ability to retain patients if a provider leaves.
7. GLP-1 and weight management: the fastest-growing entry point
GLP-1 clinic marketing is one of the fastest-growing search categories in the med spa space right now. If you offer weight management, treat it as its own funnel with its own landing page, FAQ and follow-up sequence rather than folding it into a general "services" page.
